Autism Awareness Month

Autism Awareness Month

Nearly a quarter century ago, the Autism Society launched a nationwide effort to promote autism awareness, inclusion and self-determination for all, and assure that each person with ASD is provided the opportunity to achieve the highest possible quality of life. Join the Autism Society in celebration for 2017 National Autism Awareness Month! National Autism Awareness Month represents an excellent opportunity to promote autism awareness, autism acceptance and to draw attention to the tens of thousands facing an autism diagnosis each year.

Earth Day is April 22

April 22 is Earth Day

Earth Day 2017's Campaign is Environmental & Climate Literacy. Education is the foundation for progress. We need to build a global citizenry fluent in the concepts of climate change and aware of its unprecedented threat to our planet. We need to empower everyone with the knowledge to inspire action in defense of environmental protection. Environmental and climate literacy is the engine not only for creating green voters and advancing environmental and climate laws and policies but also for accelerating green technologies and jobs.

To adjust to the reduction in funding from the state of Illinois, beginning February 5, 2016, Bond County Senior Center will not always provide meals on Fridays; Meals on Wheels will be limited to four days per week.

The Center will remain open for other services.

Anna Oestreich, executive director of the Center, is urging local residents to contact legislators, the governor and other leaders about the service cuts that have occurred due to the lack of a state budget.

*With the help of generous anonymous donors and a ongoing PayPal secure online donations campaign, we are doing our best to be able to serve SOME Friday lunches during this state budget crisis. Please call the Center for more information on specific dates!
